Two day slow boat to Luang Prabang, Laos (2020)

READ STORY

Mike and I were given a great recommendation from a couple we met while traveling through New Zealand. We mentioned we were considering visiting Laos and thats when they told us that instead of flying there, we could take a slow boat down the Mekong River from Thailand and into a small town called Luang Prapang. We took their advice and are so grateful we did because that slow river float became one of our top 3 favorite experiences of all our 2020 travels! We saw local fishermen and families mining for gold along the river. We brought food and supplies to a small village and visited with the children whom live there. We laughed and shared stories with our boat mates and just like that, those ten strangers from all over the globe became like family to us in 2 short days.

On the second morning of our last float day, Mike and I were boarding the slow boat as the sun was rising. We paused and watched as the sun reflected off the water making the Mekong river appear as though it was on fire. This was one of those moments that we felt through and through. One of those moments when travel changed us. Without a doubt, Laos' beauty stole a piece of our hearts forever.

Come as you are.
Be who you are.

This is the part where you tell me all the good stuff about the two of you and I reply back with way too many exclamation points!
