For the love of art.
Where there is no art, there is no soul.
I used to think that being successful in this industry meant taking on as many couples as I possibly could in order to fill my calendar. As it turns out, this was a detriment to myself and my creative mindset. I felt off, lost my creative spirit and after years of shooting a standard mediocre shot list over and over again, I had given up all motivation to create new, fresh and exciting imagery. This is when I realized, without the aspect of art why am I even creating? Success to me is not about booking 40 + weddings a season but instead working with 20 or less couples who truly cherish and respect the creative process. Yes, I could just show up and shoot all the things throughout your day, but how meaningful are all those things if not photographed in a way that later on makes you feel something? In order for me to be intentional in my work I need those couples who believe in taking a little extra time to make images that are a bit unusual and outside the normal realm of "Okay, now look here and smile."
