My sophomore year of college I moved into my second (of seven) apartments. The very same day Ashley came knocking and said "Hey, I live right across the hall from you. If you need anything at all let me know! Sugar, a margarita, anything, you know where to find me!" I said "Well, I could use a can opener right now." She ran across the hall, tossed me one and said "Here, you can keep it. I got two!" That year was one of my all time favorite years in college! Having been in my new place for only two nights, I decide to have a party. We invited all the neighbors! This is when Ashley came strolling in with Tom. He has been around for as long as I have known Ashley. They are partners in crime! So many days we all spent running back and forth between each others apartments, blasting music on big speakers over our balconies. We even filled up a spider man kiddie pool using a hose connecting from our shower head, down the hallway, through the main room, over the balcony, and into the pool on ground level. Ohhhhhh college. I could go on forever! I have to say though, our favorite nights were the ones spent hula hopping on the lawn. We met so many neighbors through hooping and had way too many good laughs to count. Little did I know, six years later I would be in Florida shooting Ashley and Tom's wedding. When Ashley called me, the first thing she said was "Will you be our photographer?!" and the second thing was "Girl bring your hoop with you!" My heart was jumping out of my chest with excitement!
Their wedding day finally arrived and not only did I experience ALL the love between the two of them, but they gave me equally as much love through out thier entire day. I remember waking up that morning feeling so incredibly inspired. I had all my ideas in my head and my heart was filled with so much excitement. Ashley and Tom just let me go go go and continually trusted my creative instincts. We planned their day out so perfectly and utilized every second we had. They made it very clear that they didn't just consider me their photographer, they considered me their friend. I was there as a guest, not a vendor. They even stole my camera at points through out the night and took pictures of me celebrating along with their family and friends. I can not say enough how special it was to run around the beaches and neighborhoods of Anna Maria Island with these two crazy adventurous souls. If any two weirdos are meant for one another, it is these two for sure! My very first destination wedding came and went, and way better than I ever imaged it could! Ashley and Tom's non stop humor and "down for whatever" attitude along with thier hilarious cake topper and Tom's bad ass dance moves made for a unique and perfect day. Ashley & Tom, I love you crazies!!!
