These two are a wonderful story and I just can't get enough of them! Towards the middle of my 2017
wedding season I started to get the travel bug pretty bad! Don't get me wrong, I love my home city but dang! Sometimes a girl just needs to get to the coast! An opportunity arose where I got to fly out to San Francisco for a short 3 day trip. And by short, I mean WAY to short! This was my first time on the west coast and boy did I fall in love! I do have this little problem though. Whenever I travel to new places I always find myself wishing I had a teeny tiny couple tucked away in my pocket. This way, when I come across beautiful locations, I can take them out, they become life size, and I can then photograph them for my portfolio! Long story short, since tiny shrinky couples don't exist quite yet, the next best thing was for me to get out of my comfort zone and put out an announcement looking for couples to help me build my portfolio. This is exactly how I found Ashley & Clay. They were quick to jump at the opportunity and I can't say enough how grateful I am that they did!
Upon meeting at Baker Beach
, It didn't take long until we were talking like old friends. These two were just the absolute goofiest and most down to earth couple! They have been married now for two years and yet still flirting as though they just had their first date. The coolest thing about them though, is the fact that they were willing to meet with a complete stranger all the way from Chicago! We had planned for a short half hour session which quickly turned into an hour and then two. We practiced our balancing act on some sharp rocks, got our feet and legs and hips and everything wet in the ocean waves, and sadly, Clay lost his hairbrush. Is that a weird statement? Absolutely, but if you know Clay, then you know how big of a deal this was for him. I mean, look at his luscious head of hair! Ashley was bubbly and lovey and couldn't stop laughing and Clay was bringing forth his best Nicolas Cage. I told him to channel his inner Nicolas Sparks.....he got confused. The lights in each others eyes were still a glow for one another and their relationship seemed closer than ever. Photographing them was a true reminder to me of what love is.
Flying all those miles, taking a cab out to the beach, meeting complete strangers, and getting soaked in the ocean (then heading to dinner immediately after) was all worth it! These two amazing souls are my first ever "Travel Couple" and to me, this earns them "gold medal" status in my heart and my portfolio. Ashley & Clay, love you guys to pieces! I am so blessed to have met you and so happy to call you friends.
